"Aren't you going to eat anything?" Lily asked you at breakfast that morning.
"I'm REALLY not hungry," you replied, using your fork to mess around with your food.
"Are you gonna stay and do homework tomorrow? Or are you going to Hogsmeade? I'm staying here, I need to catch up on my homework," Lily rambled.
"I'm actually going to Hogsmeade. I have to, uh..." You had to find an excuse to keep Lily from finding out about Sirius. "I have to restock on Sugar Quills. Need anything from Honeydukes?"
"No, I'm fine," she eyed you suspiciously.
Luckily, for you, the mail came at that moment, and Lily had gotten a letter from her parents, making her forget about you. Thank goodness.

Sirius's POV:
"You like (yourname), don't you?" James Potter whispered to Sirius at breakfast that day.
"No!" Sirius protested, then realized that he was staring at you. Darn you, stupid wandering eyes! Stop staring at her!! "Yes. We're going out tomorrow."
James, noticing that Lily wasn't yelling at you, looked at Sirius. "Then she hasn't told Evans yet."
"Most likely, no," Sirius muttered.
"Maybe this is a good thing. Maybe (yourname) can convince Lily to date ME," James mused.
"Stupid idea alert!! Sound the alarms!! BEEEEEEP!!! BEEEEEEEP!!" Sirius started laughing.
"Oh, shove it!! What I mean is--" James started, but any other words he might've said were unheard over the flapping of wings and the commotions everyone was making, which meant one thing: mail.

By the next morning, you felt jittery and nervous. You had never lied to Lily. Ever. But she would be furious if she found out that you were going out with "one of the most jerkiest guys the walls of this poor school has ever had to put up with" as Lily had put it.
"I'll be in the library," Lily told you.
"Okay, see you later!" You walked away from the Fat Lady's portrait. It was 1:45. You only had a few minutes until the date.
